Tara Altepeter, MD, is an obesity medicine specialist who treats both children and adults. She is board certified in General Pediatrics and Pediatric Gastroenterology, and has completed additional Obesity Medicine training through the American Board of Obesity Medicine. She also worked for 10 years at the FDA in the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, where she gained a deep understanding of the approval process for new drugs - knowledge that she applies every day to ensure the most effective patient care as many new medications to treat obesity are being developed.
Dr. Altepeter is a member of the American Board of Obesity Medicine and The Obesity Society.
She lives in the Silver Spring area with her husband, two children, and 2 dogs. In her spare time she enjoys gardening, reading, and spending time outdoors with her family.
